About
The Monash Parkville Students Association (MPSA) was recently formed in late 2004 and is now acting as the student union on campus.
In the past the student union was known the Victorian Pharmacy Students Association (VPSA). In 2004 however we saw a need to change. The student union no longer just represented the pharmacy students; they now also represented the formulation science and medicinal chemistry students on campus. As a result the Monash Parkville Students Association was formed as the new student union. VPSA essentially became student society under the MPSA.
The MPSA looks after all the clubs and societies on campus this includes conducting audits as well offering grants for them to run their activities. Clubs include VPSA, Med Chem Society, Form Sci Society, BWC, PMS, remedy, wildfire, universe, bahai society, and pharmaski.
The MPSA looks after a number of student facilities on campus one of which includes the undergraduate common room. This room underwent major developments this year, which has greatly improved the moral of the student body. It is a great place for students to just relax and have a break.
Not only do we maintain certain facilities and offer support to clubs, we also run countless number of events throughout the year. Parts of the orientation week program and survival week events were organized by the. Our biggest event however has to be the pharmacy faculty ball. This annual event has always been a blast and will hopefully be even better in the 2005 year.
The MPSA also represents all students on campus. Representatives sit on numerous faculty and Monash committees, giving the students perspective on a wide range of issues from education to equity to occupational health and safety. It is important for there to be student representation on such committees as it ensures students may have their opinions heard.
If you have any problems and issues with anything regarding the campus then please raise it with one of the MPSA we are essentially the student voice and do represent you.
